Howden-le-Wear is a village in South-West Durham, in the North East of England – ‘Land of The Prince Bishops’. The main A689 road between Bishop Auckland and Crook crosses the Beechburn Beck as it passes through the centre.
Howden-le-Wear is 20 minutes’ travelling time from Durham and Darlington mainline rail stations and approximately 1 hour from Newcastle International Airport and Tyneside North Sea Ferry links . Nearby motorways and roads connect with the rest of the UK, the Northern Pennine Dales, Cumbrian Lake District, Northumbria and Scottish Borders, all designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
